My Review

Jackie Morris's painted illustrations are just breathtaking, and in this oversized hardback format, they make this a book full of wonder - one to treasure, and worthy of any coffee table! The huge pictures make this story one that totally surrounds the reader in the colours, sights, and sounds of the Indian jungle. The story is told rhythmically and lyrically, with enough repetition to keep children interested, and a conclusion they will be able to predict long before the narrative ends. With sophisticated language, and a slightly longer story than your average picture book, it's better read with children 5 and over. It's a book that is truly a work of art.

Heads Up!

Jackie Morris also illustrated 'The Lost Words' and 'The Lost Spells' - if you haven't come across them and you have children who love nature and words, seek them out!

Publisher Review

'Graceful, wondrous and immense, this story will enchant readers!' Erin Hamilton 'The descriptive language and vivid similes...bring Tiger and the forest to life, merging them as one. The water-coloured illustrations are strong and impactful communicating the power of the natural world.' Claire Hewson, Early Years Educator 'Lord of the Forest is a uniquely beautiful picture book to be read, looked at, enjoyed and contemplated by a universal audience and one which I strongly recommend.' Barbara Valentini, Just Imagine Everything little Tiger hears is new and exciting. When he tells his mother of the sounds all around him she reminds him ‘When you don’t hear them, my son, be ready. The Lord of the Forest is here!’ But who is the Lord of the Forest, and when will Tiger find out?
