My Review

This fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat space odyssey is a brilliant book for engaging reluctant readers - totally transporting, it takes us to the moon, where Luna and her father are part of a moon mining mission. A freak meteorite collision means Luna is left stranded when the base is evacuated.....can she find a way to make contact with earth before her time runs out? Chris Bradford has expertly crafted a story which will hook any reader while using the sparest of vocabulary and the shortest of sentences. He packs the story our with fascinating space science too, but the book never feels like a textbook because the plot is utterly absorbing! An excellent read-aloud, too, it's a great choice for any classroom!

Heads Up!

You might want to know in advance that Luna's mum has recently passed away.

Publisher Review

Stranded and alone on the moon, Luna is running out of time … Bestselling author Chris Bradford crafts The Martian for younger readers in this gripping outer-space survival story. Luna loves living on the moon. She enjoys helping her father – a Moon Miner – on his search for precious minerals and rocks. But when a devastating meteor strike destroys their base, Luna is left stranded alone on the moon. With no shelter and few supplies, she must find a way to survive. The problem is – any hope of rescue is at least 3 days and 400,000 kilometres away … and her oxygen is fast running out! Particularly suitable for readers aged 9+ with a reading age of 7.
